LA 7,5% INJECTABLE SUSPENSION FOR BOVIDES – Antibacterial in injectable suspension

Cefquinome is an antibacterial active principle, to which a series of Gram Positive and Gram negative microorganisms have been found to be vulnerable and sensitive. Some of these are precisely responsible for a series of infectious processes in pigs and cattle, which is why Cobactan 7,5% is a very valuable and valued veterinary medicine in this type of livestock.

Interactions and incompatibilities
Cross-sensitivity to cephalosporins is known to exist for bacteria sensitive to the group of cephalosporins.
Indications and target species
Bovine: For the treatment of bovine respiratory syndrome (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida e Histophilus somni, sensitive to cefquinome.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and other â-lactam antibiotics.

efectos secundarios
Subcutaneous administration of the drug induces an inflammatory reaction of the tissue at the injection site. Injection lesions of up to 10 ml may persist for at least 28 days after the last dose. Fibrous plaques up to 15 × 5,5 × 0,2 cm may still be present. Administration into the underlying muscle may cause muscle degeneration.
Route of administration
subcutaneous.
Posology
Two injections with an interval of 48 hours.
2,5 mg cefquinome/kg body weight (equivalent to 1 ml of Cobactan® LA 7,5%/30 kg body weight). To ensure correct dosing and to avoid possible underdosing, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible.
Special precautions
• Shake the vial well before use.
• It is recommended to divide the dose so that no more than 10 ml are injected at the same site.
• Do not use the same injection site more than once throughout the treatment.
• The use of the product must be based on susceptibility tests and taking into account the official and local antimicrobial policy.
Wait time
Meat: 13 days.
Milk: Do not use in dairy cows whose milk is intended for human consumption (during lactation or the dry period). Do not use in the two months prior to the first calving in dairy heifers whose milk is intended for human consumption.

Do not store at temperatures above 25 °C.
