Description
In liquid form, Cyclavance 30ml contains 30 ml of cyclosporine at 100 mg/ml. The manufacturer intends it for dogs with itching and skin inflammation due to atopic dermatitis.
Indications
Its indication is the treatment of the clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs. Ectoparasites, food allergies, and other allergies with skin symptoms are ruled out first. It is not for use in cats; the manufacturer limits its use to dogs.
Format and composition
- Presentation: 30 ml bottle of cyclosporine oral solution, 100 mg per ml.
- Contraindicated in dogs under 6 months old or weighing less than 2 kg.
- Veterinary product for exclusive use in dogs.
- It is avoided when combined with aminoglycosides or trimethoprim, which would add nephrotoxicity.
Usage and guidelines
For a 10 kg dog receiving 0,5 ml per day, the 30 ml bottle provides approximately 60 days of daily administration. If administered every other day, it lasts considerably longer. If there is no improvement after 8 weeks, discontinue treatment. Measure the dose with a clean, dry syringe before administering.
Frequently asked questions
What advantage does the 30ml bottle of Cyclavance 30ml have?
It covers the initial 4- to 8-week phase for a medium-sized dog without changing packaging. The concentration is identical to that of the 5, 15, and 50 ml bottles; only the volume varies.
What happens to dogs with kidney problems?
It is recommended to monitor creatinine levels, and the veterinarian will adjust the dosage accordingly. Never change the dosage yourself.
Can it cause diabetes?
Diabetes mellitus has been described in very rare cases, especially in West Highland White Terriers. Therefore, it is not used in diabetic dogs.
Can vaccination be administered while it is being given?
Live vaccines should not be used during treatment or in the 2 weeks before or after.
Can it be combined with aminoglycosides or trimethoprim?
Cyclosporine can increase the nephrotoxicity of aminoglycosides and trimethoprim, so combining them is not recommended.
If you are unsure how to measure milliliters, ask your veterinarian to show you.
