Product description

MASIVET® is a veterinary medicinal product developed for the treatment of unresectable canine mast cell tumors (grade 2 or 3) with a confirmed c-KIT tyrosine kinase receptor mutation . Its active ingredient, masitinib , is a selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks tumor growth and cell proliferation in dogs diagnosed with this type of cancer.

Available two presentations:
🔹 MASIVET® 50 mg (equivalent to 59,6 mg masitinib mesylate)
🔹 MASIVET® 150 mg (equivalent to 178,9 mg masitinib mesylate)

The tablets are light orange in color , round in shape , and are engraved with “50” or “150” on one side and the company logo on the other.

🔹 Target species: Dogs
🔹 Main indication:
✔ Treatment of unresectable canine mast cell tumors (grade 2 or 3) with mutation in c-KIT

💡 Method of administration: Oral route

📌 Recommended dose:
✔ The dosage must be indicated by a veterinarian specialized in veterinary oncology.

⚠️ Precautions and Treatment of Adverse Effects

1️⃣ Hepatotoxicity (elevated ALT or AST)

• Contraindication: ALT or AST > 3 times the upper limit of normal (ULN).
• Treatment:
  • 1st time: Temporary interruption of treatment.
  • 2nd/3rd time: Dose reduction.
  • 4st time: Permanent suspension of treatment.

2️⃣ Neutropenia (Low Neutrophil Count)

• Contraindication: Neutrophil count < 2.000/mm³.
• Treatment:
  • 1st time: Temporary interruption of treatment.
  • 2nd/3rd time: Dose reduction.
  • 4st time: Permanent suspension of treatment.

3️⃣ Protein Loss Syndrome (Low Albumin and/or High UPC)

• Contraindication: Albumin < 1 x LIN o UPC > 2.
• Treatment:
  • 1st time: Temporary interruption of treatment.
  • 2st time: Permanent suspension of treatment.

4️⃣ Hemolytic and Regenerative Anemia

• Contraindication: Hemoglobin <10g/dl.
• Treatment:
  • In case of free bilirubin > 1,5 x ULN y haptoglobin < 0,1 g/dl o reticulocytes < 80.000/mm³, we recommend permanent suspension of treatment.
