Description
Simparica Trio 1,5-2,5 kg – Antiparasitic for Dogs | Fleas, Ticks, Roundworms and Heartworm | Box of 3 Chewable Tablets is the smallest format in the Trio range: a monthly chewable tablet for mini dogs (1,25 to 2,5 kg) that combines three active ingredients. It covers external parasites, intestinal worms, and the prevention of heartworm and lungworm.
Indications
According to the manufacturer, it is indicated for dogs to treat flea and tick infestations, intestinal nematodes, and to prevent heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) and lungworm disease (Angiostrongylus vasorum). Sarolaner acts on fleas and ticks, moxidectin on heartworm and Angiostrongylus larvae, and pyrantel on intestinal nematodes.
Format and composition
- Box with 3 liver-flavored chewable tablets, designed for spontaneous acceptance in small dogs.
- Per tablet: sarolaner 3 mg, moxidectin 0,06 mg and pyrantel (as embonate) 12,5 mg.
- Dogs weighing 1,25 to 2,5 kg. The manufacturer specifies a minimum age of 8 weeks and a weight of 1,25 kg.
Usage and guidelines
Administer orally, one tablet per month, with or without food. The tablet should not be broken, and it must be ensured that the dog swallows it whole. In miniature breed puppies, weight changes rapidly, so the veterinarian will advise when to switch to the 2,5-5 kg format and, in areas where heartworm disease is prevalent, will assess the animal's condition before starting.
Frequently asked questions
Is Simparica Trio 1,5-2,5 kg suitable for a 7-week-old puppy?
The manufacturer specifies a minimum of 8 weeks and 1,25 kg. Wait until the puppy meets both requirements and confirm the starting date with your veterinarian.
What does it offer compared to Simparica without Trio?
Simparica Classic contains only sarolaner (for fleas, ticks, and mites). The Trio version adds moxidectin and pyrantel for intestinal worms and heartworm and lungworm prevention.
Can it be chopped to adjust the dose?
No. The manufacturer indicates that the tablet should be given whole; if your dog weighs less than 1,25 kg, consult your veterinarian for alternatives.
The month has passed me by, how do I get back on track?
Call your veterinarian: heartworm prevention requires continuity and they will tell you how to resume without leaving gaps.
Can I combine it with another dewormer?
Only under veterinary guidance; Trio already covers intestinal nematodes and external parasites.
Ask your veterinarian to confirm weight, age, and schedule before starting this monthly treatment.
